The parking lot is spacious, with room for about 40 cars. Because the reception was crowded, we checked in via tablet in the lobby lounge. Booking through their website entitled us to a ¥500 voucher for use within the hotel. The welcome drinks and small ice pops were a nice touch. There were yukata to choose from in addition to the ones provided in the room. The room was comfortable with a bed on tatami mats. Wi-Fi was available. The refrigerator contained Japanese sweets. The TV offered several channels in addition to terrestrial broadcasting. The instructions were difficult to understand as they were in Chinese. There are baths both inside the hotel and in a separate building a minute's walk away, both featuring sodium sulfur springs with different water qualities. The water seems to have a strong component and stings if it gets in your eyes. There is also an open-air bath, but the structure is such that there is no need to worry about bears. There have also been no bear sightings in the surrounding area. The clip to keep your own slippers was a thoughtful touch. The open-air bath inside has no walls but does have a ceiling. For dinner, we had either shabu-shabu or sukiyaki, one for each of us. The meat was exquisite with melt-in-your-mouth fat. The only downside, though a matter of personal preference, was that the broth was a little sparse and lacked sweetness. I should have brought two sticks of sugar. It was a good idea to lend us elastic bands to prevent our yukata sleeves from touching the food. Otherwise, we had to wait a little between courses, perhaps because they were busy, but the waitresses and the food were impeccable. For breakfast, the steamed shrimp dumplings, Yamagata beef stew, croissants, and chocolate mousse were especially delicious. If you pay in advance in the morning, you won't have to wait.
