No way on gods green earth is this a 4-star hotel! We booked here with some friends as we were attending an event close by. Safe to say we will never return! Upon check in I noticed the room smelt very damp and then saw the black mould covering the walls in the bathroom, I went to tell reception whom said they would sort it, later called us to say it had been taken care of, after a long day at the event we came back around 10:30pm to enter the room and be hit by the stench of bleach, this I could have lived with after airing the room out but my partner sat on the chair and was suddenly covered in ants I looked down and it looked like the carpet was moving, I put my torch on and there were hundreds of ants around the bed crawling up all over it was horrifying! We went to reception and I was really upset as I was exhausted and just wanted to sleep and knew we had been told earlier that there were no more rooms available so I started to search for other local hotels. The night Porter Adrian told us there was one room but it was currently out of service, however it was clean so he took us into the bar and gave us a drink and went up himself to make the room up, this meant we stayed in a half made up room with him making it the best he could with the time and resources he had. We eventually got to bed gone midnight and told reception in the morning whom refunded our stay. However the point is that this hotel is advertised as 4-star, having stayed in hotels around the world it’s possibly one of the worst I’ve ever had the displeasure of staying in. Beyond the two main points it was musty, mucky, the bedside lamps were broken and mismatched there were stains on the bedding, the towels were old, over washed and discoloured and the overall smell inside was awful. Thank you to Adrian the night Porter and James the barman for your help and kindness you were the saving graces of the evening. That said, I will never return to this hotel and I would strongly advise you choose another one of the many options in the area.
