After I searched for cooking classes within 30 minutes of our villa, and Sandra made the entire process seamless from start to finish. She coordinated everything beautifully, and we had the pleasure of visiting Chef Anna Maria’s farm for the experience.
The location was easy to find thanks to Sandra’s directions, and from the moment we arrived, Anna Maria greeted us with waves and the warmest smile. Her outdoor kitchen was straight out of a dream—everything you’d imagine from a traditional Tuscan cooking experience and more.
She welcomed us with an abundance of aperitivos and Prosecco before we began cooking. As a talented local chef, Anna Maria made the class incredibly hands-on, with each person having their own station as she taught us how to knead, roll, and prepare dough for two different types of pasta. We made ravioli filled with a delicious spinach, herb, and olive oil mixture she had prepared, along with fresh tagliatelle that was later served with local Tuscan beef.
What made this experience even more special was how authentic it felt. Anna Maria pulled fresh herbs from her garden, introduced us to her cat, chickens, and geese (whose eggs we used in the pasta-making process), and made us feel like we were guests in her home rather than customers.
After cooking, we sat down to a beautifully prepared table for our meal, and it truly felt like having dinner at your Italian grandmother’s house—warm, intimate, and full of love. We enjoyed our handmade pasta, local Tuscan wine (I believe Chianti), tiramisu, and espresso to finish the evening.
Despite primarily speaking Italian, Anna Maria went above and beyond to ensure everyone felt comfortable by using a translation app so nothing was lost during the experience. She even shared a heartfelt moment with my mother and her friend that created a connection none of us will forget.
