Went here for dinner on Friday 31-07-26. The restaurant has a nice relaxed vibe and decor, albeit next to quite a busy road with motorists speeding back and forth, so I would recommend dining indoors.
Myself, my Sister and her Husband booked a table for 7pm, and we sat down after ordering drinks, and at nearly £7 for a pint of Hawkstone lager, it is not cheap, despite the friendly service.
Friday night is Steak night, so myself and my brother-in-law decided we would have steaks, and my sister chose Beer Battered Fish and Chips. We placed our order at approx 7.15pm, and after nearly an HOUR without any food, I caught the attention of one of the waiting staff, (who were very friendly, with just the right level of attentive service) to remind her that we had still not received any food. She apologised, and went off to chase it up. This was approx 8.15pm. She returned to inform us that we would be served in about 5 minutes, and offered us a round of drinks on the house for the inconvenience, which we accepted, as by this point, we were understandably quite annoyed at the RIDICULOUS wait time. We were then informed this was due to a staffing issue, although not our problem, would have been understandable if the restaurant was at full capacity. However, it was only about 1/3 full, so not exactly rushed off their feet.
We eventually received our food at approx 8.30pm, well over an hour since we ordered, which is RIDICULOUS, considering the amount of clientele that were eating.
The food was fantastic howeverboth the steaks, (my rib eye, and my brother-in-laws fillet) were perfectly cooked, flavoursome, and very tender, albeit a tad small consudering the price £30+ They came with a smallish portion of chips, which were also delicious, and a medley of Mangetout and Green beans which were also perfectly aldente.
My sister also complimented her fish and chips, and mentioned that they were one of, if not THE best fish and chips she'd ever had. So glowing recommendations for the food which we could not fault, and the front of house staff who were fantastic, but badly let down by the efficiency of the kitchen staff on this occasion. Had we received our food within half an hour or so, this would be a FIVE STAR rating, despite the noisy road outside.
