Gosh, I seem to have been very unlucky in the room I received. It was filthy and wasn't fixed during my two night stay, despite the fact housekeeping did come in as requested. Clearly the person before me had been staying longer term and had done some heavy duty cooking in there as well as maybe not having the best personal hygiene standards. I shouldn't have been able to tell so much about the previous guest!
When I first entered the hotel I was greeted by a helpful staff member to check me in. The same staff member had been helpful earlier on the phone too. Stars to him.
On being given my room, I noticed big spiderwebs (1x2ft, impossible to miss! ) in the hallway which were still there when I left. Not a big deal maybe but doesn't make the best impression.
Upon entering my room it smelt extremely strongly of the previous guest's cooking. I was tempted at that point to ask for a new room, but having just made a difficult 2.5h journey I was pretty exhausted and just wanted to get my head down for the night.
As I started to unpack, I started to notice how gross everything was. The TV remote was covered in grease such that I didn't want to touch it. The table and the kitchen counters were either damaged or had stuck on food — I didn't look too closely.
Everything seemed to have a layer of dust on it too, maybe from the grease making the dust stick. The ironing board had brown stains on it and short black hairs. The same short black hairs were on the bathroom counter and sink. The sink itself was slightly blocked, filling to the top before it would empty, and one of the towels was so thin it had holes in it. The tap and plughole were not clean either and there were further brown stains on the bathroom floor.
The lamp on the nightstand was dirty and greasy too and for the rest of my stay I used a piece of tissue to turn it on and off because everything just felt so gross. Same with the door handles!
Basically anything that wasn't the toilet, bedding or towels, ie things that would be changed or always cleaned, felt dirty.
I messaged the hotel saying I was too exhausted by now but my room was filthy and please could they send someone to clean it properly whilst I was out the next day. I guess part of the message got through as someone came in to put the dirty decorative pillows back on the bed and to remove my small paper bag of rubbish. I guess they assumed the rest of the grossness was me and therefore not appropriate for a mid stay clean? When I got back I initially thought no one had been in, it was just from the decorative pillows being back on the bed that I noticed they had been at all.
When everything feels a bit gross it is really hard to enjoy your stay. I mostly stayed on the bed because I knew the linens were clean — although unfortunately the mattress also needs replacing as one side seems ok (I only realised the morning of checkout! ) but the other you can feel the springs and it is creaky. I didn't get to use the kitchen because who wants to cook somewhere where they don't want to touch anything!
Now, the shower was lovely and the toilet was clean. I think the sheets were clean. Staff were very helpful, even if maybe the message about how much cleaning was needed maybe didn't get through.
I think the overall message for management needs to be that if someone has been staying longer term or there are signs a guest was maybe messier than usual, there needs to be a DEEP clean of the room before giving it to someone else. I wouldn't have my own home like this and especially given the other reviews I expected so much more here. I wish I had changed rooms on that first night, perhaps I would have found a much cleaner room and enjoyed my stay.
В таком случае я не вернусь и буду советовать другим коллегам не оставаться здесь.
Пожалуйста, тщательно уберите номер 228, прежде чем сдавать его кому-либо!
