This is my nth time visiting Osaka. Being a fan of anime and otaku goods, I decided to stay at the Toyoko Inn branch, which I've passed countless times before. Here's a breakdown of its pros and cons:
Pros:
1. Toyoko Inn's consistent selling points: affordable prices, breakfast included, standardized rooms, and a 10-night stay get-1-free membership – very economical.
2. Located in the heart of the Nipponbashi anime district, it's a perfect location for those interested in related merchandise. You can buy some things, bring them back to your room, and then continue shopping. There's no shortage of food and drinks nearby.
3. They now require completely self-check-in. Some might dislike this, but I love it. It supports multiple languages, is easy to use, and once you get used to it, you can check in quickly and easily.
Cons:
1. The breakfast has become increasingly unappetizing. It's basically pre-made food from a central factory, with little variation over several nights. Many dishes are the same. This time, I stayed for three consecutive nights, and on the last day, I didn't even want to eat breakfast. It was better to eat out. Basically, Toyoko Inn's breakfasts are just to fill your stomach; don't expect anything delicious.
2. The location is both an advantage and a disadvantage. It's actually a bit far from Namba Station, so those taking the train early in the morning need to leave very early, unlike many Toyoko hotels which are right next to the station.
3. The rooms are a bit old-fashioned. The single rooms are larger than other business hotels, but the humidifier was hidden behind the trash can, completely unnoticed until the third day when I finally saw it and started using it. Unfortunately, I really needed this device; it should have been placed in a more visible spot in the room.
