Our stay at Casali Sterpeti with Irene and Simone was truly one of the most beautiful and peaceful travel experiences my partner and I have had in years. We spent three wonderful days there and, despite the unstable spring weather, they created an atmosphere of warmth, hospitality and complete inner calm that is difficult to describe with words.
This place is perfect for people who come from stressful jobs and busy lives and need to reconnect with silence, nature and themselves. The rooms are immaculate — ideal for anyone who appreciates cleanliness, comfort and thoughtful details. The bed is exceptionally comfortable, the bathroom cosmetics are high quality, and we especially loved the fact that there is no TV in the room. Instead of screens and noise, you wake up and fall asleep with a view of the garden, surrounded by the scent of lavender, rosemary and countless Tuscan herbs.
The garden itself deserves a special mention: it is simply extraordinary. More than 2000 of plants create what feels like a botanical paradise. If you love nature, flowers, herbs or gardening, this place is magical.
Breakfast every morning was another highlight. Irene prepares homemade tarts, cakes and bread herself every day, all made with incredible care and authenticity. Freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, local products, and coffee lovingly prepared by Simone — everything feels personal, slow and genuine. Not luxury in the artificial sense, but true Tuscan quality of life.
If you are searching for the real Toscana, far away from the stress, crowds and tourist chaos of Florence and Siena, this is the place.
My only advice to future guests: stay at least three nights. The surrounding area is full of beautiful medieval villages like Pitigiano, natural sulfur hot springs such as Terme di Saturnia where you can bathe for free day and night, stunning coastline nearby, and many exceptional local trattorias for true food lovers who want authentic Italian cuisine instead of the fast, tourist-oriented version often found in northern Tuscany.
