I wanted a change from my usual Airbnb bookings. Within my budget, generally between 50 and 60 euros per night, it's often difficult to find an entire apartment. Most of the time, it's more like a room in someone's home. Since I value my peace and quiet and my independence, I decided to return to a hotel for this stay.
In this price range, the Atrium Logis Hôtel in Golbey was one of the highest-rated establishments I found.
Among the positive points, I would like to highlight the generous size of the room and the bathroom. The view overlooked some trees and a green space, which was pleasant. I was also greeted by a very friendly receptionist who took the time to explain everything to me and show me around the room. The cleanliness also deserves to be mentioned. The bathtub was spotless, the grout was clean and white, the corners of the bathroom were perfectly maintained, the toilet was immaculate, and I didn't find a single hair or trace of dirt. I even checked the mattress: not a single stain. At no point did I feel the slightest disgust or the impression that anything wasn't clean. For me, that's the most important criterion.
On the less positive side, the hotel is located in an industrial area, right across from a quarry. The setting isn't particularly charming. The bathroom was also rather dated, with a very bright neon green paint that probably won't appeal to everyone.
Personally, the mattress wasn't really suitable for my sensitive back, but I don't consider that a flaw in the hotel. Everyone has different needs when it comes to bedding.
Another point to mention: the trees visible from the window seemed to be home to a large colony of crows. From six o'clock in the morning, they began a particularly noisy chorus. As the hotel is otherwise very quiet, I didn't think it necessary to use earplugs. I was therefore woken up much earlier than expected. That said, I obviously can't hold it against the hotel.
The atrium, meaning the hotel's inner courtyard, was being renovated during my stay. Fortunately, being there over the weekend, I wasn't bothered by any construction. Aside from that, there weren't really any particular amenities or spaces to highlight. The breakfast room looked modern, clean, and recently renovated. I didn't have breakfast to stay within my budget, but at around €12, it seemed like good value for money.
The room also had a television with several channels, including Canal+, as well as free Wi-Fi. I didn't test the internet connection because I usually use my own mobile data. In the end, I'm not sure I'll personally return, mainly due to my sensitive back and my sensitivity to noise. After a night cut short by birdsong and waking up with a slightly stiff back, the six-hour drive ahead wasn't ideal.
However, objectively speaking, it must be said that for around 60 euros, the size of the room and especially its cleanliness are hard to beat.
