Location and welcome:
The location is ideal, close to the center of Château d'Oléron. The welcome was excellent: smiles, friendliness, and helpful advice for exploring the island.
Villas:
Disappointing and outdated amenities.
Some villas appear to have been renovated, but not the one we were given. While not ugly, they were stuck in their original state, with basic and outdated equipment.
Kitchen:
Ridiculously small and very poorly equipped.
The utensils are worn (bring your own pans; the ones provided are in a deplorable condition).
Shower rooms: Old.
General comfort:
Tiny television, no decorations, dreary atmosphere.
The heaters, which I would call "toasters, " are ancient and inefficient.
Air conditioning: Nonexistent, even though it was 33°C during our stay.
Advice for Odalys: Invest in reversible heat pumps, which are both economical and efficient.
Hygiene and maintenance issues:
Our villa was infested with yellow spiders (we killed over a hundred).
Odors: A strong, unpleasant odor (insecticide? ) persisted.
Doors: They need lubrication (including the garage door).
Exterior:
The small garden at the back is pleasant, but the sun loungers were completely worn out and unusable.
Shared facilities: There's a nice (unheated) swimming pool located behind the reception.
Foot rinse: The water was cloudy, almost a "bacteria broth"—it needs to be changed.
Pricing and feeling ripped off:
It's a shame, because the place has great potential, but the condition and amenities of the villas seem straight out of the 80s.
